The bear is a retired circus brown bear from Kamchatka who resides in a tree hollowed out in a forest. Despite his previous occupation, he possesses exceptional talents in the performing arts such as juggling, unicycling, and even stage magic. However, he also explores various other hobbies and engages in intellectual pursuits. Some episodes include flashbacks that depict his childhood as a cub in the same tree house. In the Russian version, Masha affectionately calls him “Mishka,” which is a diminutive form of the Russian name Misha, meaning “Mikey” or “Little Bear.” He is a large bear with a kind heart, serving as a father-like figure to Masha and a friendly presence in her life. His voice actors are Boris Kutnevich and Irina Kukushkina. He previously resided in Moscow as well.
